10 Bad Eating Habits And How You Can Get Rid Of Them

If you ask my neighbor, Bannon, the holiday season arrived a couple of weeks ago. His Christmas tree is up, and the lights are on. His driveway is shining with lights. He is impatiently waiting for the first snowfall of the season. I am not enthusiastically waiting. I like snow only when I vacation in the Blue Mountains and observe it from far. In a heated hotel room.

For most of us, holidays bring along a lot of opportunities. Time to set up new resolutions. Time to visit family and friends. Time to forget everything from the ending year. Almost everything. Time to, once again, build castles in the air. It doesn’t matter if all the ending year’s resolutions never saw the light of day. Who cares? Time to bury the hatchet with your mind. You tried hard. It didn’t work. Move on! You can’t carry a tune in a paper sack.

Most important it’s time to EAT. Mimah would swear this is her best season too. Her love for food is well documented. She wishes she could eat everything. She can’t. Unfortunately. Allergies. Anyway, it’s that time of the year again when you can be excused for overeating. No one is there to judge you. Everyone is eating. A lot. Throw away that smartphone of yours counting calories.

Unfortunately, some habits we pick during the holidays don’t let go when the new year bells ring. They want to stay. You’re their buddies. They regard you to be cool as a cucumber. One of such is eating habits. That milkshake you enjoyed at Jeff’s Restaurant. The cakes Aunt Maggie made. Grandma’s fried rice and chicken. The list goes on and on.

You don’t have to be a genius to figure out why one of the most popular January resolutions is to lose weight. Now, this decision is controversial. It makes me want to open a Gym business. Membership skyrockets in January and February. Then it goes quiet. The membership lingers, but people don’t show up. The resolution is now a burst bubble. I will save this topic for another day.

Now, if you and I can have an honest conversation, you will realize we have so much in common. To start with, we have all developed bad eating habits throughout the years. You know that dessert is probably too much, but still, you can’t escape the trap. You’d swear never to eat again after 7 pm, but that is just to impress a new boyfriend.

Soon he will have to face the truth. You eat late. In bed. The blame now is “by force of habit”. Your Mama used to feed you in bed.

So how do you stop bad eating habits? Here is how;
